BBC Pro-Brexit Bias? Really?
Inside the Lords (outside in the rain): Mulling over institutional meltdown

Many of our regular subscriber will be familiar with my series Inside the Lords - where I post regular comment from behind the scenes in the House of Lords, trying to shine a light on a neglected but important aspect of British politics. Parliament is in recess now, but of course that doesn’t mean politics has slowed down. So we recorded a special episode of Inside the Lords, but this time outside of parliament and out in the rain!
In it, I cover Emily Maitlis’ incredible claim that the BBC has pro-Brexit bias, and reflect a little on what’s become of our institutions. The people in power seem to have no idea how they are viewed by outsiders. I also offer some thoughts on Rishi Sunak’s sudden conversion to lockdown sceptic.
I hope you enjoy my ranting in the rain, and if you did please do consider sharing this Substack with your friends.
P.S., if you want to think a little more about the sorry state of our institutions, we have a whole series of debates on this exact theme - Institutional Meltdown - at the Battle of Ideas festival this October. Head over to the festival website for more info and tickets!
